Started Futurise
We started Futurise because we kept meeting business owners who were working incredibly hard — running crews, managing contracts, juggling materials and cash flow — but flying blind financially.
Their bookkeepers recorded transactions. Their tax people filed returns. But nobody was sitting across the table saying: ‘Here’s what your numbers actually mean. Here’s what’s costing you. Here’s how to grow.’
That gap is where Futurise lives.

Our Leadership Team
Helen Zhang, CMA, EA, CEPA, MBA
CEO, Partner
Helen brings a rare combination of accounting precision, strategic finance expertise, and operational know-how. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Oregon State University and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and holds four professional designations: Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Enrolled Agent (EA), Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and Certified Value Builder.
Helen works closely with construction and manufacturing owners to turn financial complexity into clarity — helping them understand their numbers, improve performance, and build companies that are worth more tomorrow than they are today.
She was honored with the 2025 Recent Alumni Transformational Leadership Award from Duke Fuqua, and actively builds the small business community in the Triangle area through the RDU SMB Meetups she hosts.
Outside of work, Helen enjoys working out and volunteering with her family.
John Hoffman
CFO & Partner
John brings 30+ years of financial and operational leadership as a Controller, Plant Manager, and CFO across industries that mirror our clients’ worlds: automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and construction. He knows what it feels like to be responsible for a P&L in a capital-intensive, project-driven business — and he brings that perspective to every client engagement.
As a seasoned Fractional CFO, John designs financial infrastructures that improve profitability, optimize cash flow, and increase enterprise value. He has led multiple turnarounds and complex growth initiatives, and is known for translating financial complexity into confident, clear action.
Outside of work, John enjoys staying active through workouts and hiking.
Marinelle Moore, CPA
Tax Manager
With 10+ years of experience in tax planning, compliance, auditing, and advisory, Marinelle ensures our clients stay ahead of regulations, minimize their tax liabilities, and build structures that support long-term growth.
She specializes in translating complex tax situations into clear, actionable insights — especially for business owners navigating entity structure decisions, year-end planning, and multi-year strategy. She works closely with construction and manufacturing clients to strengthen their accounting systems and improve overall tax efficiency.
Outside of work, Marinelle enjoys karate, hiking, and time with her husband and baby.
